The characters, spanning about 200 years, are interesting and strongly drawn. His knowledge of the area reads true and his grasp of human nature was compelling. I particularly enjoyed the portrayals of the main female characters, as strong willed and wise. He has laid the groundwork well to expand the stories and I definitely look forward to reading more about them.
